Into Focus

We were playing Drummonds in Aberdeen on Saturday, and showed up late to discover a band on before us. It was none other than 1970's Dutch prog rockers Focus, who looked like they had been jamming non stop since 1975. The place was heaving and the crowd were loving it.  The band were outstanding.  They played their classic 'Hocus Pocus', what a tune.  When Eric at Drummonds said there was a band called Focus on before us I thought he meant some local skater metal band. Aye.

We went on around midnight I guess and played for about an hour and forty minutes. Great night. Great crowd as usual and they were well up for it. It felt like New Year. We kicked off with our new signature tune 'A Fistful of Dynamite', which we hadn't played there before and the place erupted. Highlights of the night included a seven minute long version of 'Guns of Navarone' with extended keyboard solos from Mister Fabulous Matt Bartlett (we love his fingers), Colin 'performing' lead vocals as an encore, and Reggae Dod's new hairstyle. We also included a couple of The Specials covers for good measure. Be back sometime next year no doubt.
