Ten Go Off On A Masked Adventure
So what’s new in the world of Bombskare? Eh…Ok, how about this. We were invited to attend and perform at a charity fund raiser masquerade ball, in a place called Ardfern, south of Oban. Its absolutely true.
We played in Aviemore the night before, and camped there on the stoniest ground I have ever slept on. It was murder, like sleeping in a pothole. In the morning we headed off south west for Oban. There is something strange about masquerade balls. Its traditionally an upper class event for a start, but there’s something creepy about not seeing peoples faces. I've always hated clowns, for example. What are these people trying to hide? Anyway, we don’t often get to play in masks so when we do we try and make the most of it by performing as many jewel heists as we can. You might say we were a Ska version of Slipknot for the night. Or maybe not. I honestly don’t know what the charity was. Cancerous dogs perhaps. They had a raffle and I won a voucher for fresh seafood. Also absolutely true.
After the gig we were shown wonderful local hospitality for the night. We had lashings of ginger beer, and plenty of jelly and ice cream, it was great. We all had a tremendous time. I had cake. Our next gig will be in Edinburgh on the Ross Band Stand in Princes Street Gardens, as part of the World Justice Festival which runs from the 21st of June till the 1st of July. We will be playing with one of Tom’s other bands, the tremendous Junction Pool, and also the Edelweiss Pirates from Haddington . It will be our first time playing on that stage since during the festival in 2000.
We can also confirm that we will definitely be supporting the legendary Toots and the Maytals at The Arches in Glasgow. High five! Also we will be playing at the opening night of a new venue in Edinburgh next month. The Ark on Waterloo Place, above the Waterloo Bar I believe, and we will be ably supported by our mates, the magnificent Root System, fresh from their victory at the Liquid Room the other week. We’ll have all the details soon. Don’t Worry!
Oh and what about this. Footage of The Skatalites in Sao Paolo, Brazil, with Lester wearing his Bombskare T Shirt. Aw man!!
